This nationally acclaimed seminar is for law enforcement executives, supervisors, internal affairs investigators, human resource personnel, union representatives, and anyone wanting to understand law enforcement professional standards and internal affairs investigations. Topics include breaking the cycle of mediocrity, root causes of discipline, types of internal investigations, complaint / investigative process, case laws, employee rights, workplace searches, official hearing requirements, understanding of Garrity and Loudermill cases, and other relevant laws. The presenter for this training is Andrew Buell who has been with Spokane County Sheriff’s Office since 2001. Lt. Buell held the following deputy positions: patrol deputy, school resource deputy, federal task force officer (Gang Unit), TAC Team training coordinator and team leader, SWAT operator, and team leader. He was a Detective in the following units: Special Victims Unit and Major Crimes Unit. He was a Sergeant of the following units: Patrol, K-9, and Special Victims Unit. Currently, he is the Lieutenant in the Office of Professional Standards (Internal Affairs). Sample forms will be provided to the participants.
