Learn to get the truth during law enforcement background investigations. This is a course about seeing what’s not in the paperwork, hearing what people are not telling you, and knowing what to do about it. Students will learn to interview applicants and references to get to the truth and document findings precisely and effectively. Instructor Matt Irvine is a great instructor and investigator. Matt was a detective with the Glendale (CA) PD where he investigated sex crimes, family violence, and robbery/homicide. He later worked at the San Francisco District Attorney Bureau of Investigations where he reached the rank of Lieutenant, overseeing the Public Corruption Task Force and the investigation of officer-involved incidents. Matt retired from sworn service and joined the Portland (OR) Police Bureau as a background investigator and currently works as a Cold Case Sex Crimes investigator.
