Investigative Statement Analysis is a method for detecting likely deceptions and omissions in language. Students will learn enhanced strategies for criminal, administrative, background, or human resources investigations, and will analyze a variety of written and spoken statements from suspect interviews, 911 calls, and ransom letters. Instructor Matt Irvine is a great instructor and investigator. Matt was a detective with the Glendale (CA) PD where he investigated sex crimes, family violence, and robbery/homicide. He later worked at the San Francisco District Attorney Bureau of Investigations where he reached the rank of Lieutenant, overseeing the Public Corruption Task Force and the investigation of officer-involved incidents. Matt retired from sworn service and joined the Portland (OR) Police Bureau as a background investigator and currently works as a Cold Case Sex Crimes investigator.
