Realistic de-escalation course addressed key elements of de-escalation to resolve potentially volatile encounters and conflict. We will cover command presence, verbal persuasion (active listening), tactical positioning and re-positioning, tactical adaptability and compliance techniques. Officers will cover sanctity of life as the primary function of de-escalation. We will practice through practical exercise how to effectively recognize clear vs contaminated mind set and ways to effectively communicate with a verity of different people. Officers will learn reading and reacting to body language and effective tactical positioning for interview. Officers will be taught techniques to establish influence, and enable a subject to comply with lawful orders. The course covered containment, communication and tactical retreat to allow distance and continued conversation.
